Soft Toes & Soothing Moments: A Pedicure After the Pain

It’s been a minute since I treated myself, and today felt like the perfect time. I got a much-needed pedicure and let me just say, it felt amazing. Like, close your eyes and sigh kind of amazing.

The warm water, the gentle scrubbing, the soft touch on my skin—it all felt extra special this time. Maybe because it’s been such a rough stretch lately. Recovering from surgery hasn’t been easy. The pain, the discomfort, the endless stiffness… it takes a toll, physically and emotionally. My body has been through a lot, and even though I’ve tried to stay strong, it hasn’t been easy.

But today? Today felt like a little piece of normal. A small return to softness.

The leg massage was heavenly—like a reset button for my whole lower body. Every press felt like it was releasing a little bit of tension I didn’t even know I was holding. And when the back massage chair kicked in? Pure magic. It worked into the knots that had built up from sleeping in strange positions and hobbling around carefully day after day.

It reminded me that healing isn’t just about medicine and physical therapy. It’s about finding small joys and comfort too. About allowing yourself to feel good again, even if only for an hour.

Today reminded me I’m allowed to feel cared for—by others and by myself. And wow, do my feet (and my spirit) feel grateful.

Here’s to healing, one soft step at a time.
