A Day at the Lake: Summer Stillness at Fort Steilacoom

Some days just ask you to slow down.

Not because you’re tired or overwhelmed, but because the air feels different. Softer.

That was today.

Chewy and I went for a walk at Fort Steilacoom Park, one of those places that always helps me come back to myself. The breeze was light, the sun was warm but not heavy, and everything around me just felt… still, in the best way.

Chewy rode in his stroller, which he loves!! He gets to be part of it all without getting too tired. I think he enjoys people-watching just as much as I do. We moved along the trail at an easy pace, the trees swaying above us, birds chirping in the distance, and the lake glimmering like it had something to say if you just listened long enough.

I didn’t have an agenda. No real destination. Just walking, breathing, and noticing.

I ended up filming parts of it, not to make a big statement or capture some dramatic moment, but because it felt good to be there. Peaceful. Grounding. And I wanted to share that feeling in case someone else needed a little space to breathe too.

If you need a moment of quiet, or just want to take a virtual stroll through breezy summer air with me and Chewy, the video’s up.

Take what you need from it. Leave the rest.
