Spinning Through Time: Ballroom and English Country Dancing

Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.

The last thing that genuinely got me excited? Attending the McMenamins History Ball.

I’ve always loved ballroom dancing for the elegance, the music, the way it feels like moving through a story. This event was everything I could hope for and more. On top of that, I got to try English country dancing, which was a completely new experience for me. There’s something so fun and alive about stepping into a circle, learning the steps, and laughing your way through the spins and turns.

Being on that dance floor, surrounded by people who were just as into it as I was, reminded me why I love dancing so much. It’s not about perfection; it’s about energy, connection, and the joy of movement. Ballroom gives me that feeling of grace and flow, while English country dancing adds a playful, communal energy that’s just infectious.

That night, I was fully in the moment, meeting new people, enjoying the music, the steps, the laughter, and the history all around me. It’s one of those experiences that leaves you buzzing for days afterward, reminding me how much joy there is in doing something you love and discovering something new at the same time.
